A RoadRally Regional Development Committee (RRDC) shall be appointed by the RRB to coordinate and administer the SCCA RoadRally Regional program. The RRDC is a sub-committee of the RRB and reports to the RRB.
That is the official statement where the words stop, and the work begins for the RRDC. Starting from scratch in 2021, we gathered a list of initiatives from those RRDC Team Members serving at the time; it was not expected that we would do them all immediately (or maybe, for some, at all), yet it helped us identify areas needing support, promotion, and education needs by our SCCA Regions. Our role is to help launch, energize dormant Regions when interest is shown, support strong existing programs, and grow Regional RoadRally in the SCCA. We are seeing growth among SCCA’s 116 Regions, with over 34 having recent road rally activity.
We acknowledge that considerable rally knowledge and experience resides with the Rallymasters and Organizing Committees across our Regions, yet it is a challenge for those starting or rebuilding a dormant program to tap into those resources. We are working to facilitate the “best” common practices used for how-to, updating the SCCA website for ease in finding materials, continuing the work to educate Regions on the benefits and ease of using MotorsportReg to promote and manage their rallies, and gathering and sharing of knowledge amongst the Regions. A notable ongoing initiative is drafting the RoadRally Road Map (RR Road Map – Leg 1 ), a compendium of information and development guidance for leadership, Rallymasters, organizers, and competitors. Other efforts include surveys and articles focusing on Regional needs and opportunities.
This may be where you come in. The RRDC Team is only as capable as a handful of volunteer members’ ideas, experience, and, more so, their commitment to take on an initiative and see it to fruition with the help of the RRDC Team. We want to expand our Team. While a side benefit of serving may be to help your Region, the purpose is giving back for the good of the sport.
