Back in the 1980s, when my wife Carol Gezon and I did all of the administration for The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, there were often cartoons within the route instructions of characters and other items as done by Dave “Footie” Laffitte. One of those characters was a critter called the Sidehill Muncher because this steer grazed so much on the side of a hill that his uphill legs were shorter than his downhill legs. Now this was the early era of CB and the handles thereof. I have a left leg that is slightly shorter than my right leg, and I am constantly snacking, as in a muncher. So, add the ‘S’ from Sidehill to muncher, and I now had my CB handle. It became my email address for everything ‘rally’ after that.
With the recent demise of The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in 2023, the 60th Annual, we say goodbye to an event that filled living rooms and kitchen tables across the globe each winter. Jim Sinclair has retired from massacring us after all those years.
