The Richta GPS Checkpoints team is close to releasing a new Android version to support events conducted in what werecalling Great Race format.
The Great Race has unique timing and scoring requirements compared to most rallies in North America. Entrants can not be shown the official rally clock, their overall score, arrival times at checkpoints, or their scores while on the route.
Additionally, at Car Zero Restarts, the entrants and organizers need to set the starting order for the car each day. This start order is the number of minutes added to a CZT time at a restart needed to set the out time for that CP.
This function is enabled by checking the Great Race format checkbox on the Event Settings screen. The event organizer can set the start order from the Cars screen or by each Competitor via the pulldown menu.
I’ve been reluctant to add this support to my Richta GPS Checkpoints system. One of its great advantages is its ability to provide near-instant feedback to the entrants at each CP they pass. It pains me to provide the option to remove this capability. Nonetheless, the Android work is done, and the Apple work is in progress.
