We talked briefly as Team Wiseley was making their way north from their “rally” home of the SCCA Texas Region, rounding Indianapolis and making their way to Michigan. Driver Ethan Wiseley and Navigator Misty Wiseley are regular attendees at their local Region rallies and partake in autocross. They’ve rallied with the RReNews Clan, and Cheryl has worked with Misty on SCCA Women on Track adventures. We’re going to give this a try with cryptic messages and photos under our “Wise Words from the Route” as best we can to give their take on 2022 United States Road Rally Challenge! We may toss in a few random comments found on Facebook posts too.

Preparing for a restart “somewhere” near Hell? 
MW: Ethan had the Westberg’s Mini started in 30 minutes, lol. 3rd leg was extra exciting! 
MW: Even the sweeper gentleman (Tom Wooside) came to take a looksey! 
Turkey’s over the crest! The flock was sniffing the remnants of rally cars 1-11 and when we came over that hill… Ethan allowed the straggler to dance across the road in safety. We do love time allowances! 
We dropped a line asking, “Did you make it ‘back from Hell?” and sent our frig magnet MW: Barely! Learned a ton, I think! I do believe we got Second! FROM LAST!!! And, we are proud as peaches of that fact! 
MW: We did find a sheet in the instructions that told us of the awards at a pizza place. We did learn a numbers of things there that enlightened us from this gal who swept or S class. She was super friendly! Allison Lee and my Ethan
Things we learned that were unfamiliar to us:
Translating danger noodle signs to twisty road signs took a hot minute of long thought! Flying starts! Dirt roads can be public roads that do exist in a rally! FALL! (It exists!) it was raining leaves and the leaves were “fall colors,” actually fall colors and that maybe people plant trees in places based off the colors they’ll have in fall. Fall was my donkey this rally. Fall in Texas lasts one day, literally one day.
The deal on the Westbergs? Coolant hose came loose. While the gents were working on the car, I learned that Kate Westberg and her husband Clarence met at a rally in 1978, the year before I was born! Ethan shared his messy toolbox, liquids, reasonably clean shirt and zip ties to get her started, and we hope they made it to where they needed to be tonight! Riskier than that, we hope to see them tomorrow!
Thinking that’s all I have today. Absolutely exhausted. It was truly hilarious to intrude on Bruce and his Buddy. I nailed it for you. It was perfect and his buddy could not stop giggling.
