Seek the Right Opportunity, the first T-S-D rally of the SCCA Southern Indiana Region season ran Sunday, March 13th. Be sure to notice the close margins in the standings at the top of the two classes. Only 33 points between first and second finishers in Class A, and Class B beat that with only 20.
Three zeros! Several single-digit scores (short segments help on that). The top two teams in Class B bettered all Class A cars. Is that where the “B” comes from?
While Terry Davis and I aren’t in the official scores, running as Car 0 this morning, my score of 19 helped nearly every team improve Checkpoint 7’s score by 20 seconds. First time ever, I was carrying a total of zero into the last control. My rally computer said I zeroed it too. Checkpoint – Richta GPS popped up a 19. WHAT??? That had me recheck my figures. T=D/R was correct. There was a typo in the odometer figures, that made for a 20-second error in the calculated leg time I had in the Richta app. I fixed that before anyone else started the rally. So my 19 led me to find the typo and correct the leg time by 20 seconds for all.
I surely thought having the “Seek the Right Opportunity” rally listed in the Richta GPS checkpoint system as “Not a Job” would have garnered more than one comment. The only one that registered with me was Paul D on Thursday saying something like, “Some dingleberry named his rally ‘Not a Job’ and where the heck is ‘Seek the Right Opportunity’ Bob?”
